VIDREPUR ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCT DECLARATION

FIRST GLASS MOSAIC FACTORY WITH EPD DECLARATION

Environmental awareness is one of the defining elements of our brand and it is one that is key in our decision-making. That is why Vidrepur has joined other leading companies in becoming EPD-certified.

This standardised declaration provides qualitative and verifiable information on our glass mosaic tiles’ environmental performance. These tools are used to assess the environmental impact of our product across its life cycle. Our tiles also conform to ISO 14025 standards.

HOW DOES AN EPD ASSESS OUR PRODUCT FROM AN ENVIRONMENTAL PERSPECTIVE?

  • Using an impact category:
    evaluating aspects such as global warming potential and depletion of resources.
  • Using a life cycle category:
    evaluating energy consumption from renewable and non-renewable resources
  • Giving information on polluting emissions generated during the manufacturing process and whether the product
    contains dangerous substances
  • Giving additional information on environmental aspects such as the company’s environmental management and eco-design systems,
    how they manage the product’s service life, etc.

WHAT RECOGNITION AND BENEFITS DOES OUR EPD OFFER OUR CUSTOMERS?

In Spain, EPD verification is managed by AENOR through their GlobalEPD Programme. GlobalEPD declarations for products such as glass mosaic tiles are the only EPDs included in the “General Register of Environmental Certifications of product life-cycle assessments and other environmental assessments of buildings” section of the Technical Construction Code issued by Spain’s Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

For Vidrepur, certification means that we can communicate the environmental performance of our products and services in a standardised manner.
Our verification by AENOR gives our customers confidence in the information we provide, granting us greater recognition both nationally and internationally.

EPDs are used globally in both public and private procurement. A verified EPD facilitates the commercialisation of our products.

Environmental product declarations are gaining importance in our industry, thanks to both the public administration’s legislative initiatives and requirements for public and private procurement.
